Internet radio hosting.Live shows, Auto DJ, one panel.

Our internet radio hosting gives your station its own Icecast server on hardware we own in New York and Bucharest, an https listen link, and one control panel for the live shows, the Auto DJ, the statistics and the licensing records.

  • https listening only
  • Auto DJ on paid plans
  • SHOUTcast encoders accepted
  • AS19624

Three plans. Free carries a live show from your encoder to 1,000 listeners at once. Premium adds Auto DJ with hour clocks, 20 GB for the library and 5 DJ accounts. Platinum runs at 320 Kbps on 3 streams for up to 5,000 listeners at once, with finer control over rotation and deeper audience figures.

Plans

Three radio hosting plans on one platform

Every plan runs on the same Icecast platform, with the same panel, an https listen link, a public station page and the licensing records. What changes from plan to plan is bitrate, audience size, Auto DJ, and how much of the station you can see and steer.

  • Track tune-out figures, CSV exports and email reports
  • Priority support, and we build your first clock with you

14 days free on Premium and Platinum. The card or PayPal account goes on file at checkout and nothing is charged until day 14 ends; cancel before then and the trial costs nothing. One trial per new customer, and a Free or Premium station gets one when it moves up a plan.

More than 5,000 listeners at once?

Past Platinum's cap, or past its 1.5 million listener hours a month, we quote a setup instead: the stream mirrored across several of our servers and a named engineer who knows the station. Tell us the audience and the bitrate.

Change your mind about Premium or Platinum within three calendar days of activation and you can ask for your money back: the refund is pro-rated at monthly pricing, less a 15% administrative fee, and crypto payments are final (refund policy). Bandwidth is unmetered on every plan; the monthly allowance on Premium and Platinum counts listener hours, not bytes.

A listener hour is one listener for one hour, added up over the calendar month in UTC. Statistics kept is how far back the audience charts and reports reach.

Control panel

The whole station is one tab in your dashboard

Open Radio in your Server Room dashboard and the overview answers the first three questions: who is listening now, how the last 24 hours went, and how much of this month's listener-hour allowance is used. The https link to hand out sits under the chart, with restart and stop at the top.

  • Ten tabs with Auto DJ: overview, audience, music, playlists, schedule, clocks, voice tracks, licensing, share and go live. A Free station has six, without the four Auto DJ tabs
  • An email at 80% and again at 100% of the monthly listener hours
  • Extra streams on Platinum: lower-bitrate copies of the main one, added from the overview, for listeners on mobile data
Radio control panel overview: listeners connected now, the last 24 hours, this month's listener hours and the https listen link

Auto DJ

Auto DJ that follows a clock, not a shuffle

Upload the library, sort it into playlists, then draw the hour: station IDs pinned to :00 and :30, music running in sequence between them, a jingle where you want one. The weekly schedule decides which clock or playlist plays when, and a seasonal layer overrides it between two dates. Auto DJ is on Premium and Platinum; the Free plan has no storage and plays only what you send live.

  • 20 GB of library on Premium, 100 GB on Platinum, with bulk upload and a metadata editor
  • Crossfade, silence trimming, and track, artist and album separation
  • An optional rotation mode that keeps to the US webcasting rules on albums and artists
  • The whole library as the last fallback, so the mount never goes quiet
  • Loudness normalization, cue points, intro and outro markers Platinum
  • Weighted rotation, explicit flags with a clean mode, listener requests and voice tracking Platinum

Going live

Go live from an encoder, a browser or a guest link

The Go live tab prints what your encoder needs: server, port, mount, user and password. Icecast encoders connect to the station port. Classic SHOUTcast-protocol encoders such as RadioBOSS, SAM Broadcaster or BUTT in SHOUTcast mode connect to the next port up with the same password, on every plan. Listeners hear either one over https.

Your station starts on Icecast, and one switch in your control panel moves it to a SHOUTcast DNAS 2.6 server, on every plan including Free, with its own DNAS admin and status pages, a listing in the SHOUTcast Directory, and every panel feature Icecast stations have.

  • DJ accounts with their own login and broadcast hours: 5 on Premium, 20 on Platinum
  • A browser studio on the paid plans: microphone and music, mixed and sent from the browser
  • A live DJ takes the air from Auto DJ and hands it back on disconnect, with dead-air detection and an emergency cut
  • Guest links: a contributor goes live from a link, inside a DJ's hours, with no account Platinum
  • A backup source and seamless handoff between DJs Platinum

Statistics

Audience figures you can act on

Every plan counts listener hours, sessions, unique listeners, the average listen and the peak. Free keeps 7 days of it. Premium keeps 30 days and adds where listeners are, what they listen on, how they found you, how long they stay and how each show does. Platinum keeps 90 days and adds per-track tune-out and traffic quality checks.

  • The hours listeners tune in and the hours they leave Premium
  • Figures per show and per playlist, so a schedule change can be judged Premium
  • CSV exports and a report by email, weekly or monthly Platinum
Audience statistics: listener hours, sessions, unique listeners, average listen, the peak, and listeners over a week

Licensing and reach

The paperwork and the listings, on every plan

Licences for the music are yours to hold. The records that prove what aired, and the places listeners find the station, come with the hosting, Free included.

  • Airplay log

Every track the station played, with the time it aired, ready to download.

  • Sealed daily records

Each day's airplay is sealed and kept for good, so the log can be checked against the copy made that day.

  • Royalty reports

SoundExchange-style reports, performing rights reports, cue sheets and listener hours by country.

  • Licences and rights

Upload your licences and sign the rights declaration; our team checks them. On a paid plan a track can carry a rights end date and leaves the air that day.

  • Country limits

Limit listening to the countries your licences cover. A listener elsewhere is refused at our https proxy.

  • Station page, guide and app

A public station page with the player and your weekly line-up, a place in our radio guide once we approve it, and on Premium and Platinum an app in your station's name.

What an internet station owes in royalties

From order to on air

Three steps, all of them in your dashboard

The station is built on our radio platform once the order is paid. Nothing to install on our side, and on a paid plan nothing to install on yours either.

  1. Order the plan

Free, Premium or Platinum, monthly or yearly. The Radio tab appears in your dashboard with the station's settings filled in.

  2. Connect a source

Copy server, port, mount and password from Go live into your encoder, or open the browser studio. For Auto DJ, upload music and give the station a playlist or a clock first.

  3. Hand out the https link

Paste the listen link into any player, embed our web player on your site, or switch on the public station page and ask for a place in the radio guide.

Answers

Internet radio hosting, answered

What is internet radio hosting?

A server that takes the audio from your encoder or your Auto DJ and hands it to every listener who opens your stream link. Ours gives each station its own Icecast server on our hardware in New York and Bucharest, an https link, a control panel, and the statistics and licensing records a station needs.

Is the free radio hosting plan really free?

After a one-time $5 setup fee, yes: $0 a month for as long as the station runs. It carries live audio at up to 32 Kbps to 1,000 listeners at once. It has no storage and therefore no Auto DJ, so the station is on air while your encoder is connected and silent when it is not.

How many listeners can my station have?

Up to 1,000 at once on Free, 2,500 on Premium and 5,000 on Platinum. Premium also includes 500,000 listener hours a month and Platinum 1.5 million, roughly 690 and 2,080 listeners around the clock. We email you at 80% and at 100%. At the allowance, new listeners wait for the 1st of the month or for an upgrade to Platinum, which applies at once; everyone already connected keeps listening. Bandwidth itself is not metered.

Can I broadcast with SHOUTcast software?

Yes, as an encoder, on every plan. Stations run Icecast, and a classic SHOUTcast-protocol encoder such as RadioBOSS, SAM Broadcaster, Mixxx, BUTT or the old SHOUTcast DSP connects to the station's port plus one, with the server, port and password from your panel. Listeners hear it over https in any player.

Your station starts on Icecast, and one switch in your control panel moves it to a SHOUTcast DNAS 2.6 server, on every plan including Free, with its own DNAS admin and status pages, a listing in the SHOUTcast Directory, and every panel feature Icecast stations have.

Do I get an https stream link?

It is the only kind there is. Every listen link is https, on ny1.radio.serverroom.net with your port and mount, and plain-http listening is refused. Browsers on https pages, mobile apps and desktop players all take it. SSL radio streaming, explained.

Which plans include Auto DJ?

Premium and Platinum. Premium gives the library 20 GB and Platinum 100 GB, with hour clocks, schedules, crossfade and separation on both. Platinum adds loudness normalization, cue points, weighted rotation, requests and voice tracking.

Can I upgrade my radio plan without rebuilding the station?

Yes, from the Radio section of your dashboard. It stays the same station, and the new limits apply as soon as the upgrade is paid.

Where are the radio servers?

In New York and Bucharest, on hardware we own, on our own network, AS19624. Next comes a radio CDN with five points of presence across Europe and the United States, so every listener is served from the nearest one. Listeners anywhere connect over https, and if your licences cover only some countries the station can be limited to them.

Do I need music licences?

If you play recorded music, yes, for the countries your listeners are in; in the United States that usually means the performing rights organizations and SoundExchange. Hosting does not include them. What every plan includes is the paperwork: the airplay log, sealed daily records, royalty reports and a place for your licences and rights declaration.

Is there a refund?

The Free plan's one-time setup fee is not refundable, because it pays for building the station. On a paid plan you can request a refund for any reason within three calendar days of activation. It is pro-rated at monthly pricing, less a 15% administrative fee; cryptocurrency payments are non-refundable. Details are in our refund policy.

Is there a free trial on the paid radio plans?

Yes, 14 days on Premium and Platinum. You add a card or PayPal at checkout, the first charge comes when the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. Each new customer gets one trial, and a Free or Premium station gets one when it upgrades.

Start live on Free, add Auto DJ when you need it

A free station costs $5 once. Premium and Platinum add Auto DJ, a bigger audience and finer control, and the upgrade keeps your station.
