ARM dedicated servers · arm64 · bare metal

ARM dedicated server. 64 cores of arm64, nobody else on them.

An ARM dedicated server is a whole physical arm64 machine rented to you by the month. Here that means a 64-core Ampere Altra built to order, or an eight-core X-Gene cartridge for smaller jobs, each with root access and an unmetered port.

  • aarch64 native
  • No hypervisor
  • Unmetered port
  • Monthly, no contract

Build and run arm64 code on arm64 silicon instead of under emulation. You get every core, all the memory and the disks, and you choose the Linux image on the order page.

Two ARM lines

Two ARM servers: one for scale, one for small jobs

The Altra is the machine for real arm64 work: 64 cores, memory to 1 TB, up to 12 drives. The X-Gene is an older eight-core cartridge that costs little and does one job well, such as an arm64 build runner. Each price below is a complete machine, and the build it buys is printed under it.

Ampere Altra Q64-22

What the Altra gives a workload

The Altra Q64-22 has 64 Arm Neoverse N1 cores at 2.2 GHz, and each core runs one thread.

There is no simultaneous multithreading, so a core you request in Kubernetes is a physical core, and a busy process never shares its core with a neighbor’s thread. Ampere specifies one fixed frequency for every core instead of a boost clock, so the clock on the spec sheet is the clock you get with all 64 busy.

Memory runs on eight DDR4-3200 channels. We fit 32 GB to 1 TB and up to 12 drives, the largest being SAS-SSD 30.72 TB. The included port is 1 Gbps, and you can order up to 20 Gbps.

Compatibility

Will my software run on an ARM64 server?

Most Linux server software will, because it already ships for aarch64. Run uname -m on the machine and it answers aarch64; everything below is built for that.

  • Operating system

We install Ubuntu, built for aarch64. The Altra installs Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 or 26.04. The X-Gene cartridge installs Ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04. Check that release’s support dates before a public service depends on it.

  • Containers

Official Docker images and most popular ones publish a linux/arm64 variant. Check one with docker manifest inspect, and build your own for both architectures with docker buildx build --platform linux/amd64,linux/arm64.

  • Kubernetes

An arm64 node joins a cluster like any other. Pin workloads to it with the node label kubernetes.io/arch: arm64.

  • Languages and databases

Go, Rust, Java, Node.js, Python and .NET run natively. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Redis and MongoDB ship arm64 packages. C and C++ need a rebuild with an aarch64 toolchain.

  • What will not run

Software sold only as an x86-64 binary: some monitoring agents, commercial databases and game servers, and the cPanel and MediaCP panels. Windows Server and VMware vSphere are x86 only as well, so we do not offer them on these machines. Check each closed-source piece before you order.

  • No GPU on these lines

The Altra and X-Gene are CPU machines. For GPU work on x86, see GPU dedicated servers.

Workloads

What ARM server hosting is good for

Work that spreads across many cores and is built for arm64 gets the most out of the Altra. Five jobs it suits:

  • Native arm64 CI

Compile and test arm64 images on arm64. Emulated builds on an x86 runner under QEMU are far slower, and 64 cores run many jobs in parallel.

  • Kubernetes worker pools

One thread per core means a CPU request maps to a real core. With up to 1 TB of memory, one Altra leaves headroom for many pods.

  • Web and API tiers

Stateless services scale out across cores: Nginx, Node.js, Go and Java services run as they do on x86.

  • Databases and caches

Eight memory channels feed PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis, and 12 drive bays hold the data on the same machine.

  • Testing before an Arm cloud

If production runs on Arm instances in a public cloud, test on the same instruction set at a fixed monthly price first.

When x86 is the better choice. One hot thread that decides your latency, software shipped only for x86-64, Windows, or a GPU. For those, see our Intel dedicated servers and AMD dedicated servers, or build an x86 server to order.

Pricing

What an ARM bare metal server costs

The monthly price is the parts you choose, added up. This is the Altra’s starting build, line by line.

More memory, more drives or a faster port each add their own line, and the configurator shows the new total as you change them. Pay monthly with no contract, or take a 3, 6 or 12-month cycle for 5, 10 and 15% off.

What comes with every ARM server

  • Root and the whole machine

No hypervisor between you and the processor. Install what you like, tune the kernel, run KVM if you want your own virtual machines.

  • An unmetered port

Traffic is not metered in either direction at any port speed we sell. One IPv4 address is included, and IPv6 can be added free at checkout.

  • Support that answers in seconds

Our AI chat replies in seconds and can check your account and your server. Ask for a person and one takes over. The Basic support plan is included; faster plans are on the order page.

  • Delivery

The Altra is built to order and takes 1 to 2 weeks from payment approval. A racked X-Gene cartridge is handed over in about 30 minutes once the order is approved.

  • Remote access

You get root over SSH from the first boot. The X-Gene cartridge has power control through the chassis manager and no console. Ask in chat which out-of-band access an Altra build includes before you order.

  • Our own network

We run our own autonomous system, AS19624, so there is no reseller between you and the port. The data centers page describes each location.

Questions about ARM dedicated servers

What is an ARM dedicated server?

A physical server with an ARM processor, rented to one customer. Nothing is virtualized: you get every core, all the memory and the disks, with root access. Ours are the 64-core Ampere Altra and the eight-core X-Gene, both running 64-bit Linux on aarch64.

How much does an ARM server cost per month?

The Ampere Altra starts at $288.58 a month for Ampere Altra Q64-22 2.2GHz 64 Core · 32 GB DDR4 · 1 × SATA-SSD 240 GB · 1 Gbps. The X-Gene cartridge starts at $28.59 a month for X-Gene Octa-Core ARM v8 64-bit · 32 GB DDR3 · 1 × SATA-SSD 120 GB · 500 Mbps. Both prices are complete machines with an unmetered port and one IPv4 address. A configuration built to order adds a one-time setup fee of $29.

Is an ARM server faster than x86?

It depends on the work. Jobs that spread across many cores, such as builds, web requests and containers, keep all 64 Altra cores busy. On a single thread, a current x86 core with a high boost clock finishes first. If one hot thread decides your latency, pick x86. If the work scales out, the Altra fits.

Do you offer an ARM VPS?

Not from our own fleet: every ARM machine we rack is rented whole. To run virtual machines on ARM, take an Altra and install KVM. Linux KVM runs arm64 guests, and with 64 cores and up to 1 TB of memory there is room for many of them.

Which operating systems run on your ARM64 servers?

Ubuntu, built for aarch64. The Altra installs Ubuntu 22.04, 24.04 or 26.04. The X-Gene cartridge installs Ubuntu 16.04 or 18.04. Windows Server and VMware vSphere are built for x86 only, so we do not offer them on these machines.

Where are your ARM servers located?

The Altra is racked in New York and Bucharest. The X-Gene cartridge is offered in New York, San Francisco and Bucharest. We run our own network, AS19624, and the port is unmetered.

How long does delivery take?

The Altra is built to order and is delivered 1 to 2 weeks after your payment is approved. An X-Gene cartridge that is already racked is handed over in about 30 minutes once the order is approved.

Can I move an x86 workload to ARM?

Usually, if it runs in containers or in an interpreted or JIT-compiled language. Rebuild your images for linux/arm64, run the test suite on the new machine, then cut over. Native binaries need a recompile, and software shipped only for x86-64 needs an arm64 build from its vendor first. Server migration covers the cutover itself.

Configure an ARM server

Open the configurator on the Altra and set memory, drives and port. If you are unsure arm64 suits your stack, ask in chat first and we will check it with you.
