Podcasting · Premium and Platinum radio plans

Podcast hosting for radio stations.Your shows keep finding listeners after they air.

Our podcast hosting for radio stations comes with the Premium and Platinum radio plans at no extra cost: publish any show as a podcast and it reaches Apple Podcasts, Spotify and every other podcast app, from the same panel that runs your station.

  • Included in Premium and Platinum
  • Hosted on our servers
  • One feed, every podcast app

A show that aired on Tuesday morning missed everyone who was at work, asleep or in another time zone. As a podcast it waits for them in the app they already use. The episodes are hosted on our servers, so there is no separate podcast host to set up, and the feed is built for you.

Turn radio shows into podcasts

The show you already make, published a second time

Any show in your Programs tab can be published as a podcast. Each episode is made into one MP3 without its station breaks: the station IDs and ads that play on air are left out, so the episode sounds like the show and nothing else.

  • Make an episode from files in your library, from several tracks in a row, from a long file split by its cue sheet, or from a recorded live show
  • Release it as soon as you save, or at a time you set, in your station's own time zone
  • Drafts stay out of the feed until you publish them, and an episode with an expiry date leaves the feed on that day
  • A show with no on-air times never airs at all: it is a podcast only, for the series that does not fit the schedule
  1. Pick the show

Open it in the Programs tab and publish it as a podcast.

  2. Add the episodes

From the library, a cue-sheet split or a recording, each with its notes and artwork.

  3. Submit the feed once

Use the submit links in the panel. New episodes then appear in the apps on their own, a few minutes after you save them or at their release time.

From a live show

Last night's live show, an episode by morning

Switch on Record live shows and every live show is saved to the Recordings folder of your station. One click turns a recording into an episode, so a weekly live programme builds its podcast back catalogue while the presenter just presents.

  • Nothing to export, edit on your computer and upload again
  • Your DJs go live from an encoder or from the browser studio, as they do today

Publish radio shows as a podcast

One podcast RSS feed, read by every app

Your station gets an RSS feed carrying the tags Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Podcasting 2.0 apps read. You submit it once; every new episode after that reaches subscribers by itself.

  • Submit links built in

Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and Audible, iHeartRadio, Pocket Casts, and Podcast Index, which feeds Overcast, Fountain, Podverse and others.

  • Ownership checks

The owner name and email in the feed are where Apple and Spotify send their verification.

  • Episode details

Show notes with clickable links, season and episode numbers, full, trailer or bonus episodes, an explicit flag and artwork of its own.

  • Chapters and transcripts

Chapters show in Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts and Podcasting 2.0 apps; a transcript link can ride with each episode.

  • The show itself

Apple Podcasts categories and subcategories, newest first or in order for a serial, language, copyright, website, artwork from 1400 to 3000 pixels square, and a support or donation link.

  • When things change

Lock the feed, mark a series complete, hide it from Apple, or move it to a new feed address.

Podcast download statistics

Downloads counted to the IAB guidelines

Downloads follow the IAB podcast measurement guidelines: one app on one device fetching at least a minute of an episode, or all of a shorter one, counts once in a day. Crawlers and repeat fetches are left out, and no listener's IP address is stored.

  • Per episode and per day
  • By country, by app (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Overcast, Pocket Casts and the rest) and by device
  • Over the last 7, 30, 90 or 365 days

Page and player

A podcast page, and a player for your own website

Every podcast gets a public page on serverroom.net, for the listener who has no podcast app or has not chosen one yet.

  • The page

Artwork, description and every episode with its show notes and chapters, plus your support link.

  • The player

Back 15 seconds, forward 30, and a choice of playback speed.

  • Subscribe buttons

Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts, Castro and AntennaPod, and a button that copies the RSS address.

  • On your website

An embeddable player: copy the iframe code from the panel and paste it into your station's site.

  • Hosted with the station

The episode files live on our servers, so there is no second service to sign up for.

  • In the station app

On Premium and Platinum the station's own app can list podcast feeds, yours included. The station app

Answers

Podcast hosting for radio stations, answered

What is podcast hosting for radio stations?

Publishing a station's shows as a podcast from the same place the station is run. Here any show in the Programs tab can become a podcast: its episodes are stored on our servers, listed in an RSS feed that podcast apps read, and counted in download statistics.

Which radio plans include podcasting?

Premium, at $39 a month, and Platinum, at $79 a month, both with nothing extra to pay. The Free plan has no podcasting.

Do I need a separate podcast host?

No. The episodes are hosted on our servers with your station, and the feed, the podcast page and the player come from the same account.

How do I get my podcast onto Apple Podcasts and Spotify?

Submit the feed once, with the submit links in the panel: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and Audible, iHeartRadio, Pocket Casts and Podcast Index. Apple and Spotify send their verification to the owner email you set for the show. After that, new episodes appear on their own.

Do the station IDs and ads end up in the episodes?

No. Each episode is made into one MP3 without its station breaks, so the IDs and ads that play on air are left out.

Can I schedule an episode?

Yes. Give it a release date and time, in your station's own time zone, and it enters the feed then. Drafts stay out of the feed, and an episode with an expiry date leaves it on that day.

Can a podcast exist without being on air?

Yes. A show with no on-air times never airs; it is published as a podcast only.

How are downloads counted?

Following the IAB podcast measurement guidelines: one app on one device fetching at least a minute of an episode, or all of a shorter one, counts once a day. Crawlers and repeat fetches are left out and no listener's IP address is stored. You see the figures per episode, per day, by country, app and device, over 7, 30, 90 or 365 days.

Is there a free trial on the paid radio plans?

Yes, 14 days on Premium and Platinum. You add a card or PayPal at checkout, the first charge comes when the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. Each new customer gets one trial, and a Free or Premium station gets one when it upgrades.

Give this week's shows a second audience

Podcasting is part of Premium at $39 a month and Platinum at $79. A Free station is upgraded from the Radio section of your dashboard, without rebuilding it.
