Auto DJ · Premium and Platinum radio plans

Clock-based radio automation.Draw the hour once.

Our Auto DJ is clock-based radio automation that runs on our servers, not your PC: you build an hour as a clock of station IDs, music runs, jingles and news, place clocks on a weekly schedule, and the station plays it around the clock until a live DJ takes over.

  • Clocks live in the panel
  • Runs on our servers
  • Premium and Platinum

A clock fixes what must land on the minute and lets the music fill the rest. The schedule picks the clock for each daypart, seasonal layers take over between two dates, and when nothing is scheduled the default playlist plays. Nothing on your side needs to stay switched on.

Hour clocks

A clock is the hour, drawn as a list

Each element of a clock draws from one of your playlists and says what it is: music, a jingle, a station ID, news, weather or a programme. It either plays in sequence, after the element before it, or is fixed to a minute from :00 to :59, which the station reaches on time whatever the music is doing.

  • One to 50 items per element, so "five from Daytime Mix" is a single line
  • Drag to reorder; two fixed elements can never claim the same minute
  • The editor draws the hour as a bar, estimates how long the sequence runs, and flags gaps and playlists too thin to fill their slots
  • One clock serves as many hours as you place it in
Editing an hour clock: station IDs fixed at :00 and :30, music runs and a jingle in sequence, and the hour drawn as a bar

Schedule

The week decides which clock plays

The schedule is a week of slots, each naming a clock or a playlist for a day and a time: overnight, breakfast, daytime, evening, a different weekend. Copy a day or a week instead of rebuilding it. When nothing is scheduled the default playlist plays, and where two slots overlap the one added first wins.

  • Seasonal and temporary layers that override the base week between two dates, the first in the list winning where two overlap
  • A holiday schedule or a special broadcast is a layer, not an edit you have to undo
  • Live shows sit on top: a DJ who connects takes the air whatever the schedule says

Library and rotation

A library on our disks, played in an order you can defend

Upload whole folders into 20 GB on Premium or 100 GB on Platinum. Every file is checked as it lands and filed with its title, artist, album and art. Playlists play shuffled or in order; the shuffle is ours, not a random pick, and it keeps the rules below.

  • Separation

By default a track does not return within 20 plays, an artist within 4 and an album within 3. Set your own gaps. A library too small to keep them relaxes the album rule first and the track rule last, so the station never stalls.

  • US webcasting rules

An optional mode for US webcasters: in any three hours, no more than three tracks from one album, two in a row, and four by one artist, three in a row, counted in time. The airplay history shows any play that broke them.

  • Transitions

Crossfade of up to 12 seconds between tracks, and silence trimmed from the start and end of files, so the joins sound produced rather than accidental.

  • Never silent

If a scheduled playlist has nothing playable, the station falls back to the whole library. A missing or damaged file is skipped, not aired.

  • Metadata

Edit titles, artists and albums, add art, categories and tags. Duplicates are caught at upload and uncompressed files are compressed for you.

  • Records

Everything Auto DJ plays goes into the airplay log and the sealed daily records that feed your royalty reports, the same as a live show.

Live handover

Automation that steps aside for a person

When a DJ connects, from an encoder or from the browser studio, the live show takes the air at once. When they disconnect, Auto DJ picks the hour back up from the clock. You can cut a DJ off from the panel at any moment.

  • 5 DJ accounts on Premium and 20 on Platinum, each with its own login and broadcast hours
  • Dead-air detection on both paid plans
  • On Platinum, a backup source, seamless handoff between back-to-back DJs, and guest links for a contributor without an account

Platinum controls

The controls a music director asks for

Platinum, at $79 a month, adds what separates a programmed station from a playlist on repeat.

  • Loudness normalization

Every track levelled, so a quiet 1970s master and a loud modern one sit at the same volume.

  • Cue points and markers

Cue-in and cue-out, intro and outro markers, so tracks start where the music starts and voice breaks land over intros.

  • Weighted rotation

A power rotation plays more often than a deep cut without starving it.

  • Explicit flags, clean mode

Mark explicit tracks and switch the station to clean for the hours that need it.

  • Listener requests

Listeners ask for songs, within limits you set on how many and how often.

  • Voice tracking

Record talk breaks ahead of time and air them between songs, so an automated hour still sounds hosted.

Plans

Answers

Radio automation, answered

What is clock-based radio automation?

Programming a station by the hour instead of by the playlist. A clock lists what plays in an hour, with some items fixed to a minute such as the station ID at :00, and the rest running in sequence between them. A schedule then places clocks across the week. It is how broadcast stations keep the top of the hour on time.

Is Auto DJ included in the free radio plan?

No. The Free plan has no storage, so there is no library for Auto DJ to play. Auto DJ starts on Premium at $39 a month with 20 GB for music.

Does my computer need to stay on for the AutoDJ to play?

No. The library, the clocks and the schedule live on our servers in New York, and the station plays from there around the clock. Your computer is only needed when you broadcast live from it.

What is the difference between a playlist and a clock?

A playlist is a set of tracks, played shuffled or in order. A clock is an hour built from playlists: five from one, a jingle from another, the station ID fixed at :30. Playlists are the ingredients; clocks are the recipe.

What happens when a DJ goes live?

The live show takes the air at once. When the DJ disconnects, Auto DJ resumes from the schedule. On Platinum a backup source can cover a dropped connection, and two DJs can hand over without a gap.

Can the rotation follow US webcasting rules?

Yes, as an option on both paid plans. It limits plays per album and per artist in any three hours, counted in time. A small library cannot always comply, and the airplay history shows every play that broke a rule so you know where to add music.

Is there a free trial on the paid radio plans?

Yes, 14 days on Premium and Platinum. You add a card or PayPal at checkout, the first charge comes when the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. Each new customer gets one trial, and a Free or Premium station gets one when it upgrades.
