What you are actually renting
One 10GBASE‑SR transceiver in one SFP+ cage on one switch port, with your server on the other end of it and nothing else behind it. Not a share of an uplink, not a burst allowance on a gigabit port, not a 10 Gbps line rate with a twenty-terabyte ceiling attached. The whole port, all month, at whatever rate you feel like.

Three questions to ask whoever else you are reading
Every provider on this search says “10 Gbps unmetered”. The phrase is doing different work on different pages, so here is what to check — and our answers, which you are welcome to hold us to.
We keep side-by-side pages against six named providers, with their own published figures rather than our characterisation of them. This table is about the questions, not about any one of them.
The objection
“Nobody can sell that at this price.”
A customer forwarded us this in September, from a provider he was also talking to. It is a fair challenge and we would rather answer it in the open than in an email.
The reason a reseller thinks it cannot be done at the price is that they are pricing transit resale, with a margin on somebody else’s account. We are not reselling: the network is ours, the routers are ours, and the thing we are selling you is capacity we already own. That is also why we can put the looking glass on the page — there is nobody in the middle whose numbers we would rather you did not see.
“Another provider wrote to us today that a genuinely unshared 10 Gbps port held at 90–100 percent around the clock cannot exist at this price, and that whoever sells it that cheap is leaning on a shared uplink or a fair-use clause. If there is a threshold, or a monthly volume, name the number. We will plan around a number; we cannot plan around a surprise.”

Section 10 of the terms of service lets us act on usage that threatens platform stability or poses a security risk. We are not going to pretend that clause is not there. What it is not is a volume clause — it names no number, and it has never produced a bandwidth charge. If another provider will not show you their equivalent sentence, that is your answer.
Before you buy
Only 1.8 percent of our customers run one
Everyone else is on the 1 Gbps port that comes free with every server, and most of them are nowhere near filling it. That is worth saying near the top of a page whose job is to sell you the upgrade.
The same payload over both ports
Arithmetic at line rate, not a benchmark. One gigabit moves 125 MB a second; ten moves 1.25 GB. Real transfers land under both figures and the gap keeps the same shape.

Almost nothing runs at line rate continuously, so the month is a ceiling rather than a plan — and the point of this page is that there is no allowance underneath it to spend.
Buy it when the peak is the product
Live events, a patch day, a release window, cache fill for an origin behind a CDN, a backup window that has to finish before the working day. In each of those the month’s total is modest and the ten minutes that matter are not — and a metered plan sized for the peak costs more than this port does.
Do not buy it if you are chasing latency, which a wider port does not fix — that is where the server sits. Or if you are sizing against ten or twenty terabytes a month, which is a busy 1 Gbps port rather than a full one. Upgrading later is a switch change, not a migration, so starting on the included port costs you nothing but a support ticket.
Metered 10 Gbps is the norm elsewhere, and worth pricing against: Hetzner meters its 10 Gbps uplink at 20 TB and bills per terabyte after that, and Leaseweb meters at 30 TB — going unmetered there takes the same 8-core E-2388G box from €118.55 to €986.23 a month. The part most pages skip
A port is only as fast as the machine behind it
Ten gigabits is 1.25 GB a second arriving at your storage and your cores. If they cannot produce it, the switch is not the thing holding you back.
MB/s from one hard disk
A tenth of the port. A machine serving a cold catalogue off spinning disk will never see line rate whatever the switch reports. NVMe is the fix, not a wider port.
MB/s the port can carry
Reachable from page cache or NVMe, with many parallel connections. One scp will not do it and neither will one core — line rate is a number you get from concurrency.
Memory, as a floor
Page cache is the real serving tier on a busy origin. Eight cores and 32 GB is where we would start; everything in the ladder below goes up from there.

We lease the halls — carrier-neutral space run by Digital Realty and Iron Mountain, with Bucharest built to our own design — and the servers and routing inside them are ours. Transit is Cogent in every city, plus Pilot Fiber as a second upstream in New York.

Basic is what “included” means. This page used to claim “fully managed” and “complete managed services included”, which was true of no tier — so it is spelled out rather than implied.
What the agreement says
The SLA is a document you can read before signing, and it deliberately states no uptime percentage. It states terms: failed hardware replaced within four hours of notification, with a credit starting at 10 percent of the month between 4.1 and 6 hours and reaching the whole month past 24. Network credit begins after fifteen consecutive minutes and pays one day of the monthly charge per cumulative hour.
Two things we do not sell, so you can plan around their absence: DDoS scrubbing and managed backups. Neither is a line item; put a scrubbing service or a CDN in front if what you run draws attacks — the unmetered port at least means clean traffic is never what you are rationing.
Delivery is about 30 minutes for a racked machine once payment is approved — a median of 22 across 295 measured builds — or 4 to 24 hours built to order. The port is set during that same build. Payment and fraud review comes first and is the variable part, which is why every promise here says “once approved”.

How much does a 10 Gbps dedicated server cost?
The 10 Gbps unmetered port is $529 a month, added to whichever machine you pick. The cheapest machine that carries one comes to $557.59 a month all in, port included — and it is a small one, an ARM cartridge with a single SSD. Customers actually running a 10 Gbps port pay between $619 and $1,210 a month, averaging $867, because a port that costs the same on every line is an argument for putting it on a machine worth feeding. No setup fee on any line that carries it.
Is the port shared with other customers?
No. Your server sits on its own switch port at 10 Gbps with nothing else behind it. Ask us which switch and which port index and we will tell you — that is how our own tooling addresses it.
Is it really unmetered, or is there a fair-use limit?
There is no transfer allowance attached to the port and no overage price. Every live 10 Gbps account here has no traffic-allowance record at all, and across 788,131 invoice lines in our billing history the number of bandwidth overage charges is zero. You can hold the port at line rate around the clock and neither the speed nor the price changes. Section 10 of our terms lets us act on usage that threatens platform stability or poses a security risk — an abuse clause, with no number in it, which has never produced a bandwidth charge.
How much data is 10 Gbps in terabytes per month?
Held at line rate for thirty days, about 3,240 TB. That is arithmetic rather than a promise — almost nothing runs at line rate continuously. For comparison, a 1 Gbps port at line rate is about 324 TB. A 1 TB file takes 13 minutes 20 seconds at 10 Gbps and 2 hours 13 minutes at 1 Gbps.
Do I actually need 10 Gbps?
Probably not, and only 1.8 percent of our live accounts run one. Buy it if your peaks are the product — live events, patch days, release windows — or if you are an origin behind a CDN, or if per-terabyte billing has become a number you have to forecast. If you are sizing against a monthly total of ten or twenty terabytes, the included 1 Gbps port carries that comfortably. The upgrade later is a switch change, not a migration.
Which servers can take a 10 Gbps port?
14 of our 18 configurable lines, all at the same price: the Business, AMD Business, Xeon E5, Xeon Scalable, Ampere Altra, AMD EPYC, Enterprise and four-socket rack lines, plus five Moonshot cartridge lines. The port does not get more expensive as the machine does, which is why it works out at $52.90 per gigabit — the cheapest gigabit in our catalogue. Twenty gigabits and above narrow to fewer lines.
Can the server actually fill a 10 Gbps port?
Only if the storage, the cores and the memory keep up. Ten gigabits is 1.25 GB a second; a single spinning disk peaks near 150 MB/s, so a machine serving cold data from disk will never reach line rate whatever the switch says. Serve from page cache or NVMe, use many parallel connections rather than one, and give it eight cores and 32 GB as a floor.

Is DDoS protection included?
It is not, and we do not sell scrubbing as a product on any line here. If what you run tends to draw attacks, the answer is a scrubbing service or a CDN in front of the server. We would rather tell you that than let you infer a protection we do not operate.

New York, Miami, San Francisco, Amsterdam and Bucharest, on our own network — AS19624, registered to Data Room, Inc. at ARIN since 2006. Of the accounts on a 10 Gbps port today, eight are in Amsterdam, six in New York and two in Bucharest.
