You get the whole machine: every core, all the memory, the disks, and root or Administrator access. Nobody else runs on the hardware. If a ready server already matches what you need, take it instead: it goes live about 30 minutes after payment is approved.

Configure your custom server
Start with the platform and work down the list. The estimate beside it runs the checkout's own arithmetic on the same component catalogue, so the figure you end on is the figure you pay, before tax. Nothing is reserved and you need no account until you continue.
The configurator usually opens on a server that is already racked. Order it unchanged and it goes live in about 30 minutes. Change any part and it becomes a custom build, with a one-time setup fee of $29 shown before you pay.

What a custom server build fixes that a fixed plan cannot
A plan decides three things for you. A customizable dedicated server leaves them with you.
No rounding up
Fixed plans step in doublings. Need 48 GB and you pay for 64; need three drives and you get a four-bay box. Here the memory ladder keeps its middle rungs on the platforms that take them, and the drive count is a number you set.
No bundles
On a plan, a faster response time, more IP addresses and a bigger port arrive together, wanted or not. Here each one is its own line with its own price, and every price is listed below.
Room to change
Memory, drives and the RAID controller can change after the server is live. We schedule the work around your maintenance window, usually within 4 to 24 hours once the parts are on hand.

What is a custom dedicated server?
It is a physical server built to the specification you choose and rented to you alone. You pick the platform, processor and socket count, memory, drives, RAID level, GPU, port speed, operating system and data center. We assemble and install it, then hand over root access.
How much does a custom dedicated server cost?
The cheapest complete build is $5 a month for AMD Opteron X2150 APU, 4 cores 1.1GHz · 8 GB DDR3 · 1 × SATA-SSD 32 GB · 500 Mbps. Every part you add moves that figure by the amount in the part price tables on this page, and the configurator keeps the running total. Prices are monthly in US dollars and exclude VAT and sales tax.
Can I choose the exact processor?
Yes, and how many of them: 1, 2 or 4 physical processors, depending on the platform. The configurator lists every processor each platform takes and what it adds to the monthly price. Four-socket servers also have their own page.
How much memory can a custom server take?
From 8 GB on the smallest cartridge to 2 TB on the largest four-socket board, all of it ECC. Each platform has its own maximum, shown in the platform table.
Can I pick the drives and the RAID level?
Yes. SATA, SAS, SATA-SSD, SAS-SSD and NVMe-SSD drives, up to 24 bays with the largest controller, in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10, or JBOD if you want the operating system to manage the disks. The controller decides which arrays are possible, so you choose it before the drives.
Can I add a GPU to a custom server?
Yes, on the platforms that take one. The Graphics step in the configurator lists each GPU the board accepts and how many fit. GPU dedicated servers compares every GPU we fit, with its memory and price.
How long does a custom server build take?
4 to 24 hours from the moment the order clears payment and fraud review, and we tell you when the build starts. A ready server ordered as it stands goes live in about 30 minutes.
Is there a setup fee or a contract?
A ready server ordered as it stands has no setup fee. Any other configuration is built for you and carries a one-time setup fee of $29, shown on the order page before you pay. The AMD Opteron X2150 cartridge is the exception: it carries its own one-time fee of $13 either way. There is no contract. Billing is monthly and you can stop at the end of any month; paying 3, 6 or 12 months ahead takes 5%, 10% or 15% off the same server.
Can I change the server after it is live?
Memory, drives and the controller, yes. We schedule the work around your maintenance window, and it is usually done within 4 to 24 hours once the parts are on hand. A different processor usually means a different platform, so that is a migration rather than an upgrade.
Can you build a server in a city you do not list?
Often, within about thirty days. The listed cities are standing capacity; anywhere else depends on transit, remote hands and hardware, and it is worth asking before you rule it out. Contact us with the city and the build.
Is the estimate the price I pay?
Yes. It is the checkout's own arithmetic on the checkout's own catalogue, so it lands on the same figure, give or take a couple of cents on a multi-drive array, where billing rounds a per-drive price its own way. It excludes VAT and sales tax, which depend on where you are.
