Dedicated servers under $100 a month
Cheap dedicated server hosting on whole machines, with the trade-offs in writing
A cheap dedicated server here is one physical machine, all yours, with ECC memory, an unmetered port, root access and no contract. Rack servers we keep well stocked start at $59.46 a month. The hardware is enterprise kit bought off lease, so the processors are a generation or two back. What that costs you is listed on this page before you pay.
- Unmetered port
- Month to month
- ECC memory
- Five locations
- Price
- Well-stocked rack servers from $59.46 a month, up to $100 where this page stops and the full range starts. A rack line down to its last few units can list lower in the price list. Moonshot cartridges start at $9 and do one job each.
- Terms
- No contract and no renewal increase. A ready server ordered as it stands has no setup fee. A custom build pays $29 once; the entry cartridge pays $13 once.
- Catch
- Older processors, 500 Mbps on most cartridges, Windows costs extra. The full list.
- Support
- An AI on chat answers in seconds and can check your account and your server. A person takes over the moment you ask.

02 / Why it costs less
Why a low cost dedicated server costs less here
No promotion that ends in three months. Three things explain the price, and you can check each of them.
A
The hardware has already paid for itself
We buy enterprise servers as they come off lease, rack them ourselves and price them on what we paid. The machine is complete. The low price comes from capital written off years ago.
B
Nobody resells it to you
The servers are ours and so is the network. We lease the floor space: 60 Hudson Street in New York, Digital Realty in Miami and San Francisco, Iron Mountain in Amsterdam. Bucharest is a room we designed and built. No reseller sits between you and the machine, so nobody adds a margin.
C
Older lines stay on sale on purpose
We keep previous-generation lines orderable long after the market moves on, with operating system images going back to Ubuntu 14.04. That is where the price comes from, and it is deliberate.
Our routes are announced as AS19624, registered to SERVERROOM, Data Room, Inc. Check the holder at bgp.tools.
03 / Comparison
What an affordable dedicated server usually gives up
Budget tiers often run desktop parts and cap the traffic. Below are the published entry configurations of three providers that rank for this search, read in August 2026, beside what every line here includes.
| Feature | Server Room | ReliableSite entry | OVHcloud Eco entry | IONOS value tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Memory | ECC on every line | Non-ECC, unregistered DDR3 | ECC | Not stated |
| Processor class | Server processors, previous generation | A 2009 desktop chip | Server processor, 2017 | Not stated |
| Storage | SSD or NVMe on most lines | SSD | Two spinning SATA disks | Not stated |
| Bandwidth | Unmetered port. No metered tier exists in our catalogue | Capped at 5 TB a month | No traffic cap advertised | Not stated |
| Out-of-band console | Every rack server, no charge; three cartridge lines | KVM, advertised | Not stated | Not stated |
| Downtime terms | Written credit: one day of the monthly charge per cumulative hour, once an outage passes 15 minutes | None on that page | A percentage, no terms given | The word SLA does not appear |
| Setup fee | None on a ready server as it stands; $29 once on a custom build; $13 on the entry cartridge | None | One month, waived on a year | None on the value tier |

04 / The catch
What the low price costs you
Seven trade-offs, listed before you pay rather than found after.
-
Older processors, on purpose
The cheapest lines run previous-generation processors at modest clocks. They are whole machines, but they are not fast per core. If your workload is one thread racing a clock, buy further up the range.
-
A custom build pays a one-time setup fee
$29, once, on the first invoice, when you change a ready server's hardware or order a line with nothing racked. A ready server ordered as it stands pays none. The entry cartridge pays its own $13 once either way. Either fee makes the first month cost more than the monthly price.
-
Most cartridges run at 500 Mbps
Still unmetered: there is no metered tier anywhere in the catalogue. A gigabit on a cartridge is an upgrade from $79 a month, while the rack servers include it. Check the port column, not the headline.
-
Windows is not included
The licence is charged per core on top of the machine. On the cheapest server that roughly triples the bill. Linux costs nothing on every line.
-
Five cartridge lines have no console
Every rack server has an out-of-band console with a full remote screen, and so do the m510 and m710x cartridges. The m300, m400, m700, m710, m710p and m750 have power control and nothing more, so a firewall rule that locks you out ends in a reinstall.
-
Not every line is in every city
Only a few lines rack in all five locations, and the cheapest sit in one or two. If latency matters, pick the city first and see what is racked there.
-
Bare metal has bare metal limits
No live migration, no resizing in place, no snapshot of a running system, no per-second billing. One tenant, one machine, and you plan the capacity.
05 / Older hardware
Is previous-generation hardware worth buying?
For most workloads, yes. The newest processor is rarely the cheapest way to get work done, and three outside numbers make the case.
Processors are not what breaks
Across reported component failures, hard drives account for roughly 82% and processors for 0.04%. The parts that do fail, disks and power supplies, we replace inside your support tier's window: 24 hours on the included tier, faster on the paid ones.
Advanced Hosting, on older server economicsMost servers idle near the bottom
Enterprise servers are reported to run at 12% to 18% of capacity on average. A machine two generations back is still far more computer than most workloads ask for, so size for what you need, not for what is newest.
Advanced HostingNew hardware is getting dearer
Server memory and flash prices rose sharply through 2025 and into 2026, and the large vendors announced double-digit increases. A range built on hardware bought years ago is insulated from that.
Cherry Servers, on dedicated server pricing06 / Decision
Cheap bare metal server or a bigger VPS?
At this budget that is the real choice, and the answer is not always a dedicated server.
Take the VPS when
- the machine would sit idle most of the day
- you need it for a week, not a year
- you rebuild from an image several times a day
A whole server running at two percent is money you did not need to spend. We sell Cloud VPS too, with its disk and network limits printed beside the price.
Take the cheap dedicated server when
- you already pay for a large VPS
- the load is steady rather than spiky
- you need the disk to behave the same every hour
- a neighbour you cannot see has throttled you before
At the bottom of this range a whole machine costs about what a mid-sized VPS does, and nobody else is on it.

08 / Locations
Cheap dedicated servers in the USA and Europe
Three US cities and two in Europe, all on our own network. The cheapest lines rack in one or two of them, so if latency matters, choose the city first.
09 / Questions
Cheap dedicated server questions, answered
Price, contract, setup, refunds, support and how long it really takes.
What is the cheapest dedicated server you sell?
The cheapest lines are single Moonshot cartridges, from $9 a month, and the price list above prints each one's processor, memory, disk and port beside its price. Rack servers, with a gigabit port and an out-of-band console, start at $59.46 a month on the lines we keep well stocked; a rack line down to its last few units can list lower in the price list. The entry cartridge, the M700, carries a one-time $13 setup fee.
Is a cheap dedicated server really a whole server?
Yes. Every line here is one physical machine with one tenant. Nothing is virtualised or shared, and there is no neighbour to slow you down. That is the difference from a VPS at a similar price, our own Cloud VPS included.
Why is it cheaper than other hosts?
The hardware came off lease and has already been written down, the servers are ours, and we run our own network instead of reselling someone else's. We lease the floor space in carrier-neutral buildings in four cities, and Bucharest is a room we built. There is no introductory rate and no renewal increase, so the price you sign up on is the price you keep.
What is the catch?
Previous-generation processors at modest clocks, 500 Mbps on most cartridges instead of a gigabit, Windows licences on top, and five cartridge lines with power control but no remote console. All seven trade-offs are listed on this page.
Is the bandwidth really unmetered?
Yes. There is no metered tier in the catalogue at any port speed, so there is no allowance to run out of and no overage line on the next invoice. Inbound traffic is not billed either.
Is there a contract or a minimum term?
No. You pay month to month and can cancel or upgrade whenever you like. Paying three, six or twelve months up front takes 5%, 10% or 15% off, and that is the only way the price moves.
Can I get a refund if it is not right?
There is no money-back guarantee. You can get a refund if we fail to provision the machine, or on request within three calendar days of activation, pro-rated and less a 15% administrative fee. Built-to-order machines and crypto payments are excluded.
How long does it take to go live?
Usually about half an hour once payment clears. Across 18,922 completed builds the automated build took a median of 24 minutes, and 99.8% finished inside an hour. Payment and fraud review is the part that varies, adding about two hours for half of orders. A line with nothing racked is built to order in 4 to 24 hours.
What support comes with a cheap dedicated server?
Every server includes 24/7 support with a 12-hour response commitment and 24-hour hardware replacement. On chat, an AI answers in seconds and can check your account and your server, and a person takes over the moment you ask. Paid tiers shorten both windows and add monitoring, from $19 a month on a rack server. The agreement states no uptime percentage; it credits one day of the monthly charge per cumulative hour of network downtime once an outage passes 15 consecutive minutes.
Do you have cheap dedicated servers in the USA?
Yes, in New York, Miami and San Francisco, plus Amsterdam and Bucharest in Europe. The cheapest lines rack in one or two cities each, so the estimator above lets you pick a city and shows the closest match there.
Can I upgrade later without moving?
Memory, disks, the RAID level, the port and the number of addresses can all be upgraded in place. Moving to a different machine means a rebuild, so if you know the workload will outgrow this range, start one line up.
Pick a machine, or ask first
Configure any line from the price list, or ask on chat. The AI there answers in seconds and can check your account and your servers; a person takes over whenever you want one.
