The Server Room hosting company has served customers since 2004. Server Room is the trade name of Data Room, Inc. in Long Island City, New York, and Data Room SRL in Bucharest, Romania. We own the servers, run our own network under AS19624, and keep the machines in five cities.

Who owns Server Room?
Two privately held companies, one in each country we work from, run by the same small team. Data Room, Inc. was incorporated in New York on 21 October 2004, and “Server Room” is its registered trade name, filed with the state in July 2005. Data Room SRL was registered in Romania on 28 October 2008. Its registered office and the server room it runs are in the same building, the Feper building in Bucharest. Neither company has a parent group, and there is no upstream host between a customer and the hardware.
The president of both is Stefan Botez, who is also the technical contact on our network registration. The name in the public records is the name that answers here.
On a card or PayPal statement we appear as Data Room Inc or Data Room SRL, not Server Room. The trade name and the legal names differ, and customers sometimes ask why. Invoices carry the legal name and address of the company you signed up with.

What the Server Room hosting company sells
Whole physical servers, one customer per machine, and what a server needs around it: a port nobody meters, IP addresses, a remote console that works before the operating system boots, and engineers who can walk to the rack. We also run streaming infrastructure for internet radio and video. That is where the company started, and it is why the network was built for steady traffic rather than bursts.
We do not resell another company’s servers, and we do not split one machine between tenants and call it dedicated. We also do not push the newest model by default. We sell the machine that fits the job, often an older and cheaper one that does the work well, and we write down why.

Entry 03Ours
What is ours, and what is leased
- The servers are ours. Bought, racked and cabled by us. Nothing is leased from a third party or resold from another host.
- The network is ours. AS19624 is registered to Data Room, Inc., and the IPv4 and IPv6 space we announce from it is ours. Your traffic does not pass through a reseller’s account.
- The engineers are ours. The people who handle your ticket are the people who rack the machines. There is no outsourced first tier.
- The buildings are leased, except one. In New York, Miami, San Francisco and Amsterdam we lease space in carrier-neutral facilities: 60 Hudson Street in New York, Digital Realty and Iron Mountain elsewhere. The certifications on the data center pages belong to those building operators, not to us. Bucharest is a room we designed and built ourselves.

A hosting company since 2004
Every date below is a public filing or a line in our own books. Data Room, Inc. was incorporated on 21 October 2004, and the first customer accounts were opened that year. The trade name was filed in July 2005. We registered with ARIN in February 2006 and were assigned AS19624 in March 2006. Data Room SRL followed in October 2008, our own IPv6 allocation in December 2008 and our own IPv4 block in March 2014.
Customers have paid us from 148 countries. The figure we care about most is not a count, though: customers who opened accounts in 2005 are still with us.

Five cities, and the servers in each one are ours. Each city has its own page with the building, the carriers, test addresses and a speed test. This is only the list, with each building operator named once.

Who answers when something breaks
Live chat is answered first by our AI assistant. It replies in seconds and can look up your account and check your server while you wait. Ask for a person and a member of the team takes over. The phone numbers ring that same team, not a call centre, and anything that is not moving can be escalated on request.
The service agreement puts it in writing. If the network is unavailable for more than 15 consecutive minutes, credit starts to accrue. A failed part is replaced within the window of your support plan, from 24 hours on the included Basic plan down to 2 hours on Gold and Platinum, and the credit past that window is printed, not negotiated. Terms are monthly, and you can leave at the end of any month.
