Network
An unmetered port on our own network
Amsterdam machines sit on Server Room's own autonomous system, AS19624, with transit from Cogent. The port is unmetered: run it at full speed all month and the bill stays the same, with no transfer cap and no overage charge.
Ready machines come with a 500 Mbps or 1 Gbps port, depending on the line. For a 10 Gbps server in Amsterdam, build it to order: 6 Amsterdam lines take a 10 Gbps port, at €529 a month for the port, and the largest lines go to 100 Gbps.

|---|---|---|---|
| 500 Mbps | included | 1 / 6 | M710p |

Fit
When Amsterdam is the right city
- Your users are in Western or Northern Europe. The UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and Scandinavia are a short hop from Haarlem.
- The data has to stay in the EU. The machine and its disks are in the Netherlands.
- You want to pay in euro. Amsterdam is invoiced in euro by our Romanian company. A business in another EU country with a VAT number valid in VIES pays 0% under reverse charge.
- You want streaming hardware close to European viewers. The Moonshot m710x and m710p cartridges carry Intel Iris Pro graphics on the chip for hardware video encoding.
When another city fits better
- You need a dedicated GPU. GPUs are not offered in Amsterdam. The GPU servers are built in our US cities and Bucharest.
- Your audience is in North America. New York is one hop from most of the US East Coast.
- Price comes first. The lowest-priced machines we sell are not racked in Amsterdam. The value server page lists them.
- Your users are in Eastern Europe. Bucharest is closer, and also billed in euro.

Answers
Amsterdam dedicated server questions
How much does a dedicated server in Amsterdam cost?
Amsterdam prices start at €42.98 a month, for a machine with Intel Xeon E3-1284L v4 Quad Core 2.90 GHz, 8 GB, SATA-SSD 256 GB, 500 Mbps. Prices are in euro and billed monthly, with 5, 10 or 15 percent off when you pay 3, 6 or 12 months ahead. VAT is added where EU rules require it.
How fast can I get a server in Amsterdam?
A ready machine is installed and handed over in about 30 minutes once the order is approved. Approval is the payment and fraud check that runs before the build starts, and it takes longer when a payment needs verifying. A machine configured to order takes 4 to 24 hours.
Is bandwidth unmetered on Amsterdam servers?
Yes. Every Amsterdam server has an unmetered port: 500 Mbps or 1 Gbps on the ready machines, and up to 100 Gbps on lines built to order. There is no transfer cap and no overage charge; the port speed is the only limit.
Can I get a 10Gbps server in Amsterdam?
Yes, as a machine configured to order. 6 Amsterdam lines take a 10 Gbps port, at €529 a month for the port on top of the machine. The order sheet shows the full price before you pay.
Is an Amsterdam server bare metal or a VPS?
Bare metal. One customer per machine: every core, all the memory and the disks are yours, with root access. There is no hypervisor of ours underneath, so you can run your own if you want one.
Where is your Amsterdam data center?
In Iron Mountain AMS-1 at J.W. Lucasweg 35, Haarlem, about 20 km west of Amsterdam city centre. It is a Tier III design facility with N+1 cooling and 2N/N+1 power.
Do you charge VAT on Amsterdam servers?
Amsterdam servers are invoiced by our Romanian company. A business in another EU country with a VAT number valid in VIES pays 0% under reverse charge. Other EU customers pay their country's VAT, Romanian customers pay Romanian VAT, and customers outside the EU pay none.
Can I add a GPU to an Amsterdam server?
No. The order sheet does not offer GPUs for Amsterdam. If you need a dedicated GPU, the GPU server lines are built in our US data centers and in Bucharest.
How can I test the Amsterdam network?
Run the speed test at speedtest-ams.serverroom.net from your own connection, then ping or trace 209.127.202.254. Hops named with ams on Cogent's network show the route ends in Amsterdam.
